Power Usage Effectiveness Real time

(iPUE)

Power usage effectiveness (PUE) is a metric developed by The Green Grid that measures datacenter efficiency, normalized by ISO/IEC 30134-2:2016.
PUE represents a ratio of the total power consumed by the entire building (including lighting, heating...) to the energy delivered to computing equipment.
The ideal PUE is 1.0, meaning 100% of data center energy powers the IT equipment. The best practice PUE in the IT sector is 1.5.

Freechilling net capacity

kW
DC3 datacenter uses an indirect freecooling mechanism via heat exchangers with our dry-coolers and chilled water circuits. This system minimizes the use of mechanical cooling, when the outdoor temperature is between 18°C and 8°C mix mode is used (freecooling + mechanical cooling), and when outdoor temperatures fall below 8°C total freecooling is used.
The freecooling system significantly impacts our PUE score, between 0.10 and 0.23 depending on outside temperatures and IT power consumption. Freecooling net capacity is calculated using flowmeter and differential temperature sensors (2.5% accuracy).

Humidity

(Outdoor)
 %
%
Humidity in our datacenter is controlled through an evaporative system to maintain 40% to 85% humidity without condensation.
When outside humidity is low, our cooling system consumes electricity and water to add humidity which also increases the PUE.

Temperature

(Outdoor)
  °
In order to function properly, servers need to be kept between 16°C and 31°C.
The performance of our cooling system, and our PUE directly depend on metereological conditions and the rate of use of our data center.

Total IT consumption

kW
This metric shows the total IT power consumption measured on rack side by high precision meters.
IT consumption varies during the day due to massive variations in customer usage, particularly because of cloud computing and virtualization.
For this reason, our cooling requires high precision algorithms and sensors in order to precisely adapt the amount of cooling produced.

Our certifications:

We value transparency!

We are sharing dashboards that show the real-time PUE (power usage effectiveness) and WUE (water usage effectiveness) at our DC3 Datacenter in France.

We work hard to maintain extremely efficient data centers, and we use data including PUE to track the performance of our facilities.
